Redwood Regional Park: Stream and West Ridge Trails

How could I have lived in the Bay Area for seven years and never been to Redwood Regional Park? Not only is it practically next door to Oakland (so close, in fact, we went to a movie after our hike), but also it’s gorgeous…even when the fog rolled in.

While the redwoods in this park were planted after the logging companies decimated the old growth to build San Francisco (ah, history), there are still some originals around California. And if you’re in the market for a good story about the tallest trees in the world and the people who discover and climb them, check out this (uncharacteristically concise) New Yorker article.
